Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has broken his silence on talks with Polokwane City for Oswin Appollis.
Appollis, 23, was linked with a move to North Africa but his deal has hit a snag, with Polokwane City now ready to sell him to PSL clubs as well, as first reported by SABC Sport.
The Bafana Bafana winger didn’t let the speculation around his name get into his head and put in a superb performance against South Sudan, scoring his first two international goals.
With the PSL transfer window closing on 20 September, time seems to be running out for Chiefs to make their move, with Kaizer Jr. confirming Amakhosi are interested in the player.
“Of course he’s a top player. But we very rarely speak about players from other teams,” he told Robert Marawa on Radio 947.
“The chairman of Polokwane City is our colleague, sometimes when we talk about players of other clubs it could cause unwarranted instability at the club and in the player’s mind.
“What I can say about Appollis is I don’t know any club in the country who wouldn’t want to sign Oswin. We know we need to get the best talent to achieve our goals. He’s a top player and we’re working tirelessly to bring top players to the club.
“We’d love to have him, we’ve had talks with the chairman of Polokwane City, not only about Oswin, other players also. It’s a process that’s ongoing.
“I understand when coaches get frustrated if clubs mentioning their players in the media, we respectfully don’t do that but it doesn’t mean we’re not working as hard as we can on bringing these top talents.”
