Yusuf Maart’s transfer from Kaizer Chiefs to SV Ried is close, according to the Austrian side’ CEO Wolfgang Fiala.
Maart, 29, has not traveled with Chiefs to the Netherlands for their pre-season camp and is instead expected in Austria soon.
SV Ried, the club of former Stellenbosch FC winger Antonio Van Wyk, have identified the Chiefs captain as addition to their team after gaining promotion to the Austrian top flight.
The transfer is now just very few steps from conclusion, with only final details to be ironed out, Fiala confirmed on Wednesday.
“Yes, it looks good. We just need to finalise a few details, which we can hopefully sort out quickly,” Fiala told OÖNachrichten.
Maart is expected to travel to Austria with a tourism visa, and when he arrives in Austria he will apply for a so-called “red-white-red” card which he will need to play professional football in the European nation, the Austrian publication report.
Maart made 95 appearances for Chiefs, scoring seven goals and setting up eight more. Amakhosi fans will remember him for the winning goal in the Nedbank Cup final over Orlando Pirates, which ended the club’s 10-year draught.
