Renowned football agent Mike Makaab has confirmed that Mamelodi Sundowns did not exercise their options on Sipho Mbule and Rivaldo Coetzee, who both become free agents.
Mbule, 27, had a great first half of the campaign on loan at Sekhukhune United, even catching the eyes of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos, who had named him in his preliminary squad.
However, off-the-pitch issues derailed his campaign and saw him being dropped from the Babina Noko squad. Sundowns had an option to extend his contract but opted against it, according to Makaab.
Similarly, Masandawana also didn’t exercise their option on Coetzee, whose season was once again disrupted by injuries.
“What I can tell you that there were a number of players that we represent who Sundowns options on, and the majority of those have been exercised,” he told Simtho Dladla on Gagasi FM.
“However, the players who have not been exercised are Rivaldo Coetzee and Sipho Mbule. As of the first of June both players are free to join a club of their choice.”
