Makaringe Lands New PSL Club

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Fortune Makaringe has already landed himself a new club after agreeing terms with Cape Town City.

On Tuesday, Pirates announced that they have parted ways with Makaringe, 31, after he spent four seasons with the club. The former Maritzburg United midfielder made over 145 appearances for the Buccaneers and scored 10 goals.

But he last played a competitive match for Pirates in December when Bucs lost 3-2 to Stellenbosch FC, laying an assist in that game. He scored his last goal for the club in a 3-1 loss against SuperSport United, also in December.

Makaringe won three MTN8 titles and two Nedbank Cup trophies with the famous Black and White, but his contract with the Buccaneers expired and they opted against renewing it.

iDiski Times understands that the Johannesburg-born trickster has now already agreed terms with City, and he will join the Citizens as a free agent.

Makaringe worked with City coach Eric Tinkler at the Team Of Choice back in the 2018/19 season before joining Pirates.

City have been heavily active in the market already, with Hashim Domingo, Kamohelo Mokotjo and Carlinhos poised to join the club. Meanwhile, Jo Paciencia and Relebogile Mokhuoane will leave the blue army.
