AmaZulu coach Pablo Franco Martin has confirmed that they are looking to sign another striker to boost their attacking lines, while Siphesihle Maduna has left the club.
Having invited a whole host of players during the off-season, the only player that is being assessed by AmaZulu is midfielder Phumlani Ntshangase, who has been training with them for some time now.
They were held to a goalless draw by Richards Bay at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, where it was clear that they miss the player that can score goals for them.
As it was reported by this website a few days ago, Usuthu’s new signing Victorien Adebayor from Niger has struggled to obtain his visa so far due to the coup in his country but he is now expected to arrive on South Africa’s shores later this week.
Martin has now confirmed they’re still looking for another striker after they are the only club that has failed to score this season thus far.
“I’m sure you know the situation with Victorien Adebayor,” the coach said.
“The second one, we haven’t signed yet. We are trying to look for a player who is going to reinforce our attacking line and from there I hope we can get him.
“If not, we will continue to work with the players we have.”
Meanwhile, Martin was asked about the disappearance of Maduna, who has been linked with a move away to Moroka Swallows.
The Usuthu number 10, when the club invited the media this past week, was nowhere to be seen and has not played in the first three matches of the club.
Maduna was rumoured to be one of the troublesome players at the club last season, as the lack of discipline was said to be a huge issue.
“Maduna is no longer with us,” said Martin in short.
Usuthu, who are lying 11th on the DStv Premiership table with three points from three matches, next visit Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Saturday (17:30).
