Mayele On Chiefs Rumours

Pyramids FC striker Fiston Mayele has responded to rumours linking him with Kaizer Chiefs, saying he spoke to Nasreddine Nabi in December but is currently fully focussed on the CAF Champions League final.

The 30-year-old has been one of the standout players in the Champions League this season and his brace helped Pyramids eliminate Orlando Pirates in the semi-final.

Overall, he has netted eight goals in 11 CAFCL games, but there have been rumours that Chiefs were interested in signing the former Young Africans striker who worked with Nabi in the past – and although Mayele admitted to contact with Nabi he insisted now is not the right time to talk about it.

“The coach [Nabi] was in contact with me in December, but it’s not the right moment to talk about it,” he told SA journalists during Pyramids media day, as per SABC Sport.

“Im focussing on the final. And the rest we will see after the season.”

Mayele then admitted that he is looking forward to Pyramids’ first ever final in Africa’s elite club competition.

“I’m very to help because I always try to help the team to win. I’m a player who tries to help the team,” he added.

“I’m very happy that I was the player who scored the last goal against Orlando.

“I’m happy to play in the final, it’s the first final in the Champions League for the club and I’m ready.”
