Khanye Makes Big Mbule Claim After Pirates Deal

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye says he was surprised to see Orlando Pirates sign midfielder Sipho Mbule but believes the player could even jump on the AFCON train if he uses his “last chance”.

Mbule was announced by Pirates earlier this week, though the terms of his contract were not revealed, after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns following a loan at Sekhukhune United.

‘Master Chef’ spent the past season on loan at Babina Noko where he couldn’t finish the term due to alleged misconduct, with his agent Mike Makaab announcing that the player was offered to Chiefs however has since been unveiled by their neighbours.

Khanye believes Mbule is lucky to get what he termed a “last chance” at showing just how talented he is and saving his career, adding that if Mbule gets his act together he may even see himself in the Bafana Bafana 2025 Africa Cup of Nations squad.

“Let me be honest I’m surprised, and he is very lucky,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“But he must know one thing this is a last chance he has now because we have seen players previously at the club who have had the same problems they got rid of them.

“Even though fans loved them, the club got rid of them and their careers were over. If you leave Orlando Pirates under such a cloud, it’s over.

“Mbule is so lucky, and he must thank his ancestors, he must thank God and age for being on his side. He really needs to understand that should anything happen with him at Orlando Pirates he is done.

“I compliment his God-given talent. The boy is one of the best, one of the most talented players and I cannot wait to see him play with [Patrick] Maswanganyi, Relebohile Mofokeng, [Mohau] Nkota and [Tshegofatso] Mabasa.

“It’s his last chance and if he trains properly, get game time he may even go to the AFCON if he gets his act together.”
