St. Louis City SC have confirmed the details of Njabulo Blom’s loan to Kaizer Chiefs, announcing Kaizer Chiefs have an option to purchase their academy product.
Earlier on Tuesday, Nasreddine Nabi had confirmed Blom’s arrival during the betway Premiership launch before the club also announced the return of the 24-year-old on loan.
Blom’s Major League Soccer side also confirmed the loan, stating it runs until June 2025, and includes a purchase option.
“St. Louis CITY SC loaned midfielder Njabulo Blom to South African Premiership club Kaizer Chiefs F.C through the June 2025. Kaizer Chiefs have the option to purchase following the end of the loan,” the club stated on their website.
Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel, who had told this publication in 2023 he had searched “all over the world” for a player like Blom, also sent a parting message to the midfielder.
“We wish Njabulo good luck during his loan in South Africa,” he added.
“He will have a great opportunity to get more minutes at a competitive level and help continue his professional growth.
“Kaizer Chiefs is one of the top clubs in Africa.”
Blom made 37 appearances for St. Louis City, helping to their record-breaking inaugural MLS season, when the new franchise broke several records under Bradley Carnell.
However, he struggled for regular game-time after the sacking of Carnell earlier this year and was also suspended by current coach John Hackworth, with Chiefs snatching on the opportunity to bring their youth product back to Naturena under the guidance of Nasreddine Nabi, who expressed his excitement about the deal.
