New Royale Union Saint-Gilloise signing Relebohile Mofokeng says his overseas move is a dream come true for him as he has always dreamt of playing in Europe.

Mofokeng, 21, completed his transfer from Orlando Pirates to the Belgian Pro League side where he signed a four year contract with the club having an option to renew for another year.

Mofokeng has been a sensation in the Betway Premiership since being promoted from Pirates’ development ranks three seasons ago.

In that period he has helped the Buccaneers win eight trophies including the treble, headlined by the league title last season.

The youngster has also impressed in the national colours where he was part of the group that made history by reaching the knockout stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup currently on-going the USA, Mexico and Canada.

He didn’t travel back to South Africa with the team after their elimination from the tournament as he had medicals to complete at his new side in Belgium, where he was unveiled on Thursday.

“I’m very happy to be here,” Mofokeng said via the club’s press release.

“It’s a dream to play in Europe and to begin our Champions League qualifying campaign soon.”

“The past year has been very special, with the league title, my first FIFA World Cup with South Africa and now this important step in my career.”

“I hope to continue developing as a player here. Together with the team, we’ll do everything we can to compete for trophies.”
