Royal AM wing-back Shaune Mogaila has left the club, and the player is heavily linked with a move to AmaZulu.
Mogaila is rumored to have been looking for a better package at the club, but he was unfortunate as talks broke down, resulting in the player leaving.
The former Highlands Park speedy winger was not part of Royal AM, as they played out a goalless draw with Kaizer Chiefs in a DStv Premiership match at Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday.
Coach John Maduka was cagey in giving reasons why Mogaila was not part of the side after the game, saying the management are rightful people to shed light on the matter.
“Shaune is not injured,” said Maduka, who can’t afford to lose key players as the club are still serving a FIFA transfer ban.
“The management will state what is happening with the club, and we will take it from there.”
The 28-year-old Mogalia featured in 16 matches in all competitions in the first round, and it was clear that something wrong might have happened between the two sides, looking at the contribution he had made this season so far.
Mogaila joined Royal AM in the second half of the 2021/22 season from TS Galaxy along with Marlon Heugh and Mxolisi Macuphu.
He and the latter injected some life up top, as Royal AM were able to finish in the third position in their first campaign in the top flight to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.
He was part of the Bafana Bafana B side that claimed the bronze medal at the COSAFA Cup in Durban in July last year.
Mogalia, in total, featured in 63 matches in all competitions, scoring four goals.
He will be remembered for scoring a winning penalty as Highlands Park beat Polokwane City in the second leg semi-final of the MTN8 in the 2019/20 season at Makhulong Stadium to see the club reach their first-ever cup final under coach Owen da Gama.
But the Lions of North were defeated in the final by SuperSport United at Orlando Stadium.
Other than AmaZulu, Mogalia has also been linked with a move to Orlando Pirates.
