In a new twist around Khama Billiat’s return to football, Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League side Yadah Football Club agreed terms with the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs star.
Billiat, 33, was initially linked with a move to Dynamos FC, who even had reserved shirt number 12 for him. However, talks between the two sides are understood to have hit a roadblock.
Meanwhile, Yadah FC seem to have come in and hijacked the deal for the attacking midfielder, who arrived at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport last night, with a number of teams waiting for him upon his arrival at the airport, as it was not clear who will be signing him.
But after arriving he drove away with Yadah FC officials, including club CEO Admire Mango. Yadah are owned by wealthy prophet Walter Magaya, who seems to have gone all out to secure Billiat’s signature.
A close source told iDiski Times that Billiat has now agreed on a short-term contract with the Miracle Boys.
They will be aiming to fight for a better season after surviving relegation on the last day of the last campaign by beating Dynamos 2-1.
The 33-year-old spent almost 14 years in the South African Premier Soccer League and won seven trophies, including three league titles and one CAF Champions League – all with Sundowns.
It looks like Yadah will have the last laugh in the chase for Billiat’s signature.
