Official: Bafana Midfielder Completes Move In Europe

Bafana Bafana midfielder Luke Le Roux has completed a move from FC Volendam to IFK Värnemo after the relegation of his former club to the Dutch second division.

Le Roux, 24, joined Volendam at the beginning of the season after leaving Varbergs BoIS in Sweden.

But the former Stellenbosch FC midfielder had a tough start at the club, disrupted by injuries. Overall, he made just 14 appearances in the Eredivisie and scored one goal.

The former SuperSport United midfielder had a three-year contract with Volendam, but now left after just one season.

The Swedish top-flight side IFK Värnemo confirmed that Le Roux has signed a two-year contract with the side. IFK are currently sitting 12th in the ongoing Allsvenskan.

Le Roux had been a regular in Hugo Broos’ Bafana team in 2022 and 2023 but has not made the latest squads following his injury troubles in 2023/24.
