Official: Campbell’s Europe Move Confirmed

Belgian giants Club Brugge have confirmed the signing of Shandre Campbell from SuperSport United, as reported by iDiski Times.

Campbell, 18, enjoyed a debut season to remember in the SuperSport first team after winning the DStv Diski Challenge Player of the Season title at the club the campaign prior.

He emerged a regular figure in Gavin Hunt’s set-up with five goals and six assists in 30 games in all competitions, and was nominated for the DStv Premiership Young Player of the Season.

His fine performances saw lots of interest in his services, with interest from Feyenoord and FC Midtjylland but Belgian Pro League side Brugge won the race for his signature.

As reported by this publication, Campbell will initially play for Club NXT, in the second-tier of Belgian football, where several of their breakout talents starred before breakthroughs into the first team and more prominent clubs around Europe.

“Club NXT has strengthened itself with Shandre Campbell. The 18-year-old South African is being acquired from SuperSport United. Shandre wants to continue to develop in Europe and finds a development program tailored to his needs at Club Brugge,” the club stated on Wednesday.

SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews added: “Shandre is humble and disciplined and works consistently hard in every training session to improve his game. He has been given a unique opportunity at Club Brugge to play with and against the best players Europe has to offer in a world-class environment.”
