Kaizer Chiefs have announced the appointed of former Mamelodi Sundowns scout Thembela Maliwa as new Head of Scouting and Recruitment.
Maliwa had confirmed his resignation from Masadanwana on Wednesday and he has been unveiled at Naturena just one day later.
“Kaizer Chiefs are delighted to announce the appointment of Thembela ‘Tera’ Maliwa to the post of Head of Scouting and Recruitment in the latest step in the implementation of their strategy to add quality to every aspect of the Club’s structures in order to produce success on the field,” the club stated.
“Born and raised in Cape Town, Maliwa cut his teeth with formerly known as Ajax Cape Town, where he worked for 11 years. From there, he spent two years in the Netherlands before returning to South Africa to link up with Mamelodi Sundowns.
“After concluding seven years of serving the Brazilians, Maliwa will now be committing his substantial expertise towards building a Kaizer Chiefs squad capable of putting silverware in the Club trophy cabinet. It is a challenge he is relishing.”
Maliwa himself says he wants to help the club find players to take them back to their glory days.
“We all know what a big, great Club this is. I am really happy to be here,” he told the club’s website.
“I am here to try to take the Club to another level in terms of scouting and recruitment.
“My plan is to identify and bring in the players that will take Amakhosi back to the glory days.”
