Kaizer Chiefs have announced the signing of Colombian striker Efmamjjasond González Palacios, as previously reported by iDiski Times.
The Colombian striker agreed to join Chiefs on loan, early last week, with an option to purchase at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Having scored eight goals in his first 11 games for Real Santa Cruz, there’s real optimism that the towering striker can help remedy Chiefs’ goalscoring concerns this season.
After the departure of Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, Chiefs confirmed the signing of Gonzales on Thursday, even though he is yet to arrive in South Africa.
“With the season already underway, Kaizer Chiefs continue to bolster their squad by announcing the signing of Efmamjjasond Gonzáles Palacios from Colombia, as they prepare to compete strongly in 2023/24,” the club stated.
“The forward, simply known as Jasond González, is the second player from Colombia to sign for Amakhosi. He joins the team a year after his fellow countryman, Leonardo Castro, departed South Africa.
“González, who was plying his trade in the Bolivian Primera Division for Real Santa Cruz, is expected to arrive in South Africa soon to start his career as a Glamour Boy.”
As reported in this week’s iDiski Times newspaper, there was a hold-up in with his visa yet to be approved due to Colombia not having a South African embassy.
It’s delayed the process with his application needed to be sent to Venezuela, returning to Colombia before he can make his trip to Mzansi.
González’ is likely only to be given the go-ahead by the end of this week before making the trip to complete his move to Amakhosi.
