Kaizer Chiefs have announced the signing of long-term target Thabo Cele after he was released by his Russian club, FC Fakel Voronezh, for compassionate reasons.
Cele, 28, had spent the season in Russia, but in a statement released by the club last week, his club confirmed he has been released by the club to go back to South Africa to attend to a family issue.

The club added that according to the agreement, Cele would only be eligible to sign for a club in South Africa for the duration of his contract with Voronezh.
Today, Amakhosi announced the signing of the midfielder, who had continuously been linked with Amakhosi over the last few years, on three-and-a-half-year deal.

“Kaizer Chiefs are delighted to announce a further addition to their squad with the acquisition of experienced midfielder, Thabo Cele,” the club stated.
