Cape Town City have boosted their goalkeeper department and announced the signing of Ayanda Elson Sithole.
The 23-year-old Pirates academy product joins the club from Magesi FC, as first reported by iDiski Times.
Sithole previously played for Pirates Reserves team and Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda Football Club.
This past season, he played a vital role in the promotion of Magesi, even though he was the second choice after Elvis Chipezeze, making three appearances.
City released Bongani Mpandle, who had been with the club for three years since joining from Maritzburg United.
Sithole will now compete with Darren Keet and Luca Oliaro for number one spot at the Citizens.
Meanwhile, Eric Tinkler’s continued their early foray in the transfer market and also announced the signing of Lefa Aphane from Tzaneen United.
“Lefa is a young, promising player and I think he has a great future ahead of him. Finding him the way we did was a miracle and with hard work from his side, he’ll become an exceptional footballer,” Tinkler said on the signing of the latter.
The two new additions become the latest players officially announced by the club, following Haashim Domingo and Fortune Makaringe, while Kamohelo Mokotjo, Carlinhos and Alifeyo Sibusiso Ziba have also all been signed, but are yet to be unveiled.
