Official: Ct City Sign Former Pirates Star

Cape Town City have continued their early foray in the transfer market and announced the signing of Fortune Makaringe, as first reported by iDiski Times.

The 31-year-old joins the club as a free agent after his contract with the Buccaneers was not renewed and he was released.

The midfield maestro had been at Pirates for four seasons, having arrived at the club in July 2019 and won three MTN8 and two Nedbank Cup trophies with the Bucs.

He made 147 appearances in the black and white, scored 10 goals and assisted on nine occasions.

Makaringe came through Moroka Swallows’ youth development and played for Maritzburg United under coach Eric Tinkler. On Friday the Citizens confirmed his arrival on a three-year deal.

He becomes City’s third official signing the arrivals of Haashim Domingo and Kayden Francis.
