Official: Former Downs Defender Lands New Club

Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil has signed for Saudi Club Al Hazem following his exit from the Moroccan outfit Wydad Casablanca.

The 27-year-old parted ways with Red Castle after just one season, having joined the club from Mamelodi Sundowns at the start of the previous campaign.

His transfer to the North African team came after Rulani Mokwena took charge at Wydad following his abrupt departure from the Tshwane giants.

Boutouil made 23 appearances and netted two goals, registering two assists across all competitions for Wydad. He was part of the team that participated in the FIFA Club World Cup, featuring in two matches in the group stages.

His move to the newly-promoted Saudi club, Hazem, will see him team up with former Sekhukhune United player Elias Mokwana, whom he previously played against in the DStv Premiership [now Betway Premiership].

Mokwana switched to the Saudi Pro League outfit last month after departing Esperance and has already made his first appearance.
