Official: Mabasa Makes Switch Between Soweto Giants

Moroka Swallows have announced the signing of Tshegofatso Mabasa who joins the club on a season-loan loan from Orlando Pirates.

Mabasa, 26, had joined the Buccaneers from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2019, making 66 appearances for the club.

However, he wasn’t in Jose Riveiro’s plans for last season and was loaned out to Sekhukhune United. But he also mainly had a bit-part role under Brandon Truter, scoring just twice in 22 games.

Pirates confirmed last month that talks were ongoing for Mabasa to join their Swallows for the 2023/24 season after he returned from his stint with Babina Noko and the Dube Birds have now announced the move.

Mabasa becomes Swallows’ seventh new signing ahead of the 2023/24 season, following Andile Jali, Lantshene Phalane, Victor Bakah, Tshanini Falakhe, Keanan Phillips and Dumisani Zuma.

There’s been a new sense of optimism around the Dube Birds this season with the ‘rebirth’ of Moroka Swallows added to the appointment of Steve Komphela.
