Official: Man City Star Joins Pitso’s Former Club

Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez has joined Pitso Mosimane’s former club Al Ahli Saudi FC.

Mahrez, 32, becomes Al Ahli’s next high-profile signing after the arrivals of former Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and former Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino.

Al Ahli announced Mahrez’s arrival on Friday, with the transfer fee believed to be worth £30 million.

Mahrez, who had won 11 major trophies with City, stated he had an incredible spell with the English giants.

“To play for Manchester City has been an honour and privilege,” he told City’s website.

“I came to City to win trophies and enjoy my football and I achieved all that and so much more.

“I have had five unforgettable years with this football club, working with unbelievable players, fantastic supporters, and the best manager in the world.

“I’ve made a lifetime of wonderful memories and the manner of our Premier League title wins and the battles we’ve had with Liverpool and, last year, Arsenal, underlined our collective desire and mentality to be the best.

“Manchester City will forever be a huge and happy part of my life.”

Mahrez made 236 appearances for City, scoring 78 goals and setting up 59 more since joining the club from Leicester City in 2018.

Meanwhile, Al Ahli are yet to find a replacement for former coach Pitso Mosimane, who left the club two months ago and has since joined Al Wahda SC.
