Danish giants FC Copenhagen have announced the signing of Bafana Bafana attacker Thapelo Maseko on a four-year deal.
The 22-year-old will wear the number 12 shirt.
Maseko was the hero for Bafana as they picked up their only win at the 2026 FIFA World Cup against South Korea to make history in making the knockout stages for the first time in their history.
Prior to the global showpiece in the Americas, Maseko was shipped out on loan to Cypriot topflight outfit AEL Limassol by Mamelodi Sundowns where he netted two goals with an assist in 15 outings.
The two clubs reached an agreement on a transfer fee of R28 million, with Maseko having netted three times with an assist in 45 matches since joining the African champions from SuperSport United in 2023.
“In Thapelo, we get an explosive, dynamic player with exceptional qualities in direct, 1-on-1 situations. His pace and ability to challenge his direct opponent will make him a constant threat in behind, but he can also use his left foot to assist teammates when cutting inside,” said F.C. Copenhagen head coach, Bo SvenssonSvensson.
“There are naturally still elements to refine, but Thapelo’s potential is high, and he always works tirelessly for the team, so we are really looking forward to working with him on a daily basis.”
