Bafana Bafana defender Thibang Phete has signed for IF Vestri in the Icelandic topflight as a free agent.
The former Stars of Africa Academy graduate spent the past 10 years abroad since leaving then-National First Division side Milano United.
‘Cafu’ spent most of his time in Portugal, turning out for sides like Vitória SC, FC Famalicão and B SAD in the Portuguese top-flight and was even a regular feature in Hugo Broos’ squad before his move to the UAE.
At some stage it appeared a return to South Africa could be on the cards after his side GD Chaves were relegated to the Portuguese second tier, but Phete will now be donning the colours of Vestri this campaign.

Vestri currently sit fifth on the Icelandic league log with four points from as many outings, nine points from leaders Valur who have played five games.
