Pitso Mosimane’s former club Al Ahli have announced the signing of Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from Chelsea.
The Saudi Arabian giants are one of four clubs, who were taken over by the country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), who also own 80% of Premier League side Newcastle United.
The changes led to a massive restructure at the club, including a new president, with Mosimane opting to walk away from the team, despite leading them back into the Saudi Pro League.
There was uncertainty over his future, with the club’s leadership understood to be keen on a big-name European coach. The South African tactician has since signed for United Arab Emirates side Al Wahda.
Al Ahli, meanwhile, have been linked with several high-profile signings, including Sergio Ramos and Roberto Firmino and now announced their first big arrival in the 2021 The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper and AFCON winner, who reportedly joined in a deal worth €18.5 million.
