Official: Stellies Announce Next Signing

Stellenbosch FC have announced the signing of Genino Palace on a permanent transfer from Maritzburg United.

Palace, 24, recently represented Bafana Bafana at the COSAFA Cup, where he was part of the team that won the bronze medal.

He has joined the club on a long-term deal and has become Stellies fifth new signing ahead of the 2023/24 season, as previously reported by iDiski Times.

“We are delighted with the signing of Genino Palace,” Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker said. “He’s a very energetic and exciting midfielder who we had monitored throughout last season.

“He adds a lot of value to our team as a box-to-box midfielder who can add to both our defence and our attack. He’s very athletic and a technically good footballer, who we are very pleased to have added to our ranks.”

Before his one-and-a-half seasons at Maritzburg, Palace formed part of the youth and reserve ranks of Portuguese sides Académica de Coimbra, SC Braga, and Sacavenense.

Palace is the club’s fifth signing after the additions of Thabo Moloisane, Basil Mphahlele, Oscarine Masuluke and Ismaël Olivier Touré.
