Stellenbosch FC have continued their squad revamp and announced the signing of Terrence Mashego on loan for the 2026/27 season.
Mashego, 30, spent last season on loan at Durban City where he won the Nedbank Cup with the newly promoted side, making 28 appearances across all competitions.
However, after returning to his mother club he now joined Gavin Hunt’s side ahead of the new campaign.
“Stellenbosch FC has bolstered its defence by completing the signing of Bafana Bafana international Terrence Mashego from Mamelodi Sundowns, with the left-back joining on loan for the duration of the 2026-27 campaign,” the club stated.
“Mashego arrives in Stellenbosch on the back of a successful loan spell with Durban City, where he was part of the squad that won the Nedbank Cup last season – his second triumph in the competition after previously being crowned champion with TS Galaxy in 2019.
“The 28-year-old also boasts an African Football League and three Betway Premiership titles to his name from his spell with Sundowns, and was part of the Bafana Bafana squad that finished third at the 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations.”

Stellenbosch CEO Rob Benadie said: “Terrence is a player who has competed at the highest level on both the domestic and international stages, and we believe he has the ability and quality to add significant value to our squad.
“We are delighted to welcome him to the Club.”
Mashego becomes Stellies’ second signing on Tuesday after the club also announced the arrival of George Matlou on a free transfer. They have also signed Richards Bay midfielder Tlakusani Mthethwa and former Orlando Pirates duo Sinoxolo Kwayiba and Thabiso Lebitso.
