Official: Sundowns Sign Pirates Star

Mamelodi Sundowns have completed a massive Deadline Day deal, signing Orlando Pirates winger Thembinkosi Lorch.

Lorch, who turns 31 this year, has long been on the wanted list at Chloorkop and the Buccaneers confirmed his move later on Deadline Day as first reported by iDiski Times.

“Thembinkosi Lorch is to leave Orlando Pirates Football Club after a discussion between the Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza and the Mamelodi Sundowns hierarchy,” the Soweto giants stated.

“The Club thanks “Nyoso” for his immense contribution by adding another page in the history of the Club. We wish him and his family well in his future sporting pursuit.”

For the past seven seasons, Lorch has been one of the biggest stars at Pirates, though injuries have perhaps curtailed his overall success.

Having burst onto the scenes over a decade ago at Maluti FET in the second tier, Lorch was signed by Pirates in 2015, though spent that first season out on loan at Cape Town All Stars, before spending the 2016/17 campaign on loan at Chippa United.

But from 2017 onwards Lorch became the kingpin at Pirates making over 170 appearances in all competitions, scoring 34 goals.

He also has eight caps for Bafana Bafana, scoring once
