Official: Sundowns Star Moves To Europe

Greek Super League side Volos FC have announced the signing of Mamelodi Sundowns winger Junior Mendieta.

Mendieta, 31, joined Sundowns as one of the most exciting players in the DStv Premiership due to his exploits at Stellenbosch FC.

The club forked out around R10-million to secure his services and despite not being a regular, his first season could be considered a success with the African Football League and league title to his name, the first silverware of his career.

However, on Thursday, his move to Greece was announced by his new club, as previously reported by iDiski Times.

“PAE Volos announces the acquisition of the 31-year-old Argentinian midfielder Júnior Leandro Mendieta,” the club stated.

“Mendieta immediately after signing his new contract went to Portaria where he integrated with the rest of the Volos team and already started training.

“PAE Volos welcomes Júnior Leandro Mendieta to its family.”

Mendieta scored two goals with three assists in 29 games for Sundowns during the 2023/24 season.
