iDiski Times has learnt that Orlando Pirates are set to sign Stellenbosch FC midfielder Mthetheleli Mthiyane and Richards Bay FC defender Sibangani Zulu.

The Buccaneers have begun reinforcing their team ahead of the 2026/27 season as they look to maintain their local dominance and compete continentally.

Ezimnyama Ngenkani won the treble in the just-ended season — the MTN8, Carling Knockout Cup, and Betway Premiership. Winning the league saw them end a 14-year league drought.

Meanwhile, Pirates also qualified for the CAF Champions League, a competition they want to strongly compete in, having been inspired by seeing their local rivals Mamelodi Sundowns win it last week.

Mthiyane and Zulu are said to have completed their medical tests last week and are in the final stages of joining the Sea Robbers.

The duo impressed significantly at their respective clubs last season, becoming key players for their teams.

Mthiyane only joined the Cape Winelands side at the beginning of the campaign from Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Milford FC.

He quickly established himself as a reliable player in the Stellenbosch midfield, accumulating 38 appearances across all competitions and scoring one goal in his debut season.

Meanwhile, the talented centre-back, Zulu, joined the Northern KZN side in April last year following Royal AM’s expulsion from the PSL. During his time at the club, he made 27 appearances, registering one assist in the process.
