Richards Bay FC has parted ways with two players midway through the first round of the 2026/27 season, iDiski Times has learnt.

The Natal Rich Boyz made several signings ahead of the new campaign as they looked to strengthen their squad and improve on last season’s performance.

However, the KwaZulu-Natal outfit have endured a difficult start to the Betway Premiership season, failing to register a win in their opening eight matches, having suffered five defeats and recorded three draws.

Amid their struggles, Richards Bay has now cut ties with defender Samkelo Shezi and winger Mbulelo Nombengula.

Shezi joined the club at the start of the season after leaving Motsepe Foundation Championship side Highbury FC.

The defender made just two appearances for the club and was an unused substitute in five matches before being left out of the matchday squad for Richards Bay’s most recent fixture.

Meanwhile, Nombengula joined the Jomo Biyela-owned outfit in July 2025 from Sinenkani before being sent out on loan to Midlands Wanderers in January this year.

He subsequently returned to Richards Bay but failed to make an appearance for the club in the top flight this season.
