Rulani Makes Mofokeng Transfer Admission

MC Alger head coach Rulani Mokwena has admitted that his side looked at the possibility of signing Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng, however hit a wall with the player having set his ambitions on playing in Europe.

The Bafana Bafana starlet has been a subject of rumours of a move away from his club since his exploits in his first season with the Pirates first team a few seasons ago. He had a trial stint in England with Wolverhampton Wanders in 2023 and since then there has been reports suggesting interests from clubs in Scotland, Spain, France and some African Leagues in the 21-year-old.

Mokwena told reporters that the transfer is not an easy one as it is not just about money but also mainly hindered by Mofokeng’s personal ambitions for his career.

“So, example I know the fans want Mofokeng,” said Mokwena.

“I know this and believe me I want Mofokeng as well. He’s a South African, a player that I speak to also about certain things in South African football but it not a transfer that, not just from a financial perspective because I can tell you the player has had many, many offers and has set his sights on going to Europe.

“So, I can talk about it because it is just an example that the club is ambitious, the club has explored that possibility. But the player has no ambitions to play in Africa.

“So, it’s not a lack of ambition from the President of the club.”
