Stellies Star Offered To Chiefs & Downs

Stellenbosch FC defender Ismaël Olivier Touré has been made available on the market, with Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns offered a chance to sign him.

Toure, 26, has been instrumental in Stellies’ successful season after helping them to win their first-ever top-flight trophy in December and qualify for CAF football for the first time.

The tall centre-back joined Stellenbosch at the beginning of the season after his former side Marumo Gallants got relegated. He played 34 matches across all competitions, scoring two goals, including the important equaliser in the Carling Knockout Cup final.

Toure received five Man-of-the-Match Awards this season, which is the second-most behind Orlando Pirates midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi, who received six.

iDiski Times understands that Toure has been made available on the market, with Chiefs and Sundowns offered an opportunity to sign the Ivorian defender.

The tall centre-back had trials at Chiefs in 2017 but initially stayed in his home country at AFAD Djékanou and ASEC Mimosas before he was snatched up by Marumo Gallants in August 2022. He went on to help them reach the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final, which raised his profile in SA and on the continent.

SuperSport United have submitted a bid for the former Mimosas defender but it didn’t match Stellenbosch’s asking price.

A few Egyptian teams have also enquired about the defender, but they are yet to table an offer for him.
