Stellies Youngster Off To Sweden For Trials

Stellenbosch FC youngster Langelihle Phili will leave the country for Sweden in the coming weeks to undergo an assessment.

Phili joined Stellies’ DStv Diski Challenge team at the beginning of the season from AmaZulu FC after he was voted Player of the Tournament in the Engen Knockout Challenge in KwaZulu-Natal.

The 17-year-old won another Player of the Tournament in the Engen Knockout Challenge in Cape Town, where Stellenbosch were crowned champions. The right-winger has been phenomenal for the Stellies as he helped them to clinch their second DDC league title in three years.

After his impressive performances, he was rewarded with a call to the U20 national team, alongside his teammates Tyler Cicero and Tylon Smith, and was also nominated for the DDC Player of the Season.

iDiski Times understands that Phili will leave the country for Sweden as he will be assessed by Allvenskan side Djurgårdens IF. He is expected to leave in the coming weeks.

Djurgårdens IF is the same club where former Ajax Cape Town and Bafana Bafana midfielder Lance Davids once plied his trade.
