Sukazi Makes Bold Ramovic-Chiefs Claim

TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has claimed that Sead Ramovic would end Kaizer Chiefs’ trophy drought although he has not been approached by the club yet.

Ramovic is overseeing Galaxy’s best-ever DStv Premiership campaign, as the Rockets are currently in fourth place.

They already secured their first-ever top eight finish, with Ramovic getting a lot of praise for his work with limited resources and despite losing several key players ahead of the season.

Recent reports in local media have linked the German-Serbian tactician with a move to Naturena, although Sukazi confirmed that he hasn’t been approached by Amakhosi, as reported in this week’s iDiskiTimes newspaper.

However, Sukazi claimed that he has no doubts that Ramovic would lead Chiefs back to glory days.

“When Sead Ramovic arrived in South Africa I said to journalists, ‘Listen to me very carefully, the arrival of Sead Ramovic will prove to be a blessing to South African football, you’ll thank me later’,” he told Andile Ncube on MetroFM.

“If you’re question is alluding to the rumour of Kaizer Chiefs or something like that, which is just a rumour – I haven’t spoken to them.

“Should it happen, I don’t know if it will happen, I don’t know their criteria what they are looking for and I do not advise Kaizer Chiefs, obviously.

“But should such an approach come to my desk, my wish for I want for South African football is for a strong Kaizer Chiefs, a very strong Kaizer Chiefs – Sundowns has become very strong, so has Pirates.

“I want a strong Kaizer Chiefs, I know what Ramovic can do. I cannot tell them what they should do but it would extend the blessings of SA football.

“If that approach comes, in my view, it could be the turn-around of the biggest institution, the flagship of South African football.”

When it was put to him whether he believes Ramovic could end Chiefs’ nine-year trophy drought, Sukazi made his feelings clear.

“I know he would bring them success, I know he’d bring them a trophy,” he added.

“But I love him, he’s my coach.

“In South Africa, we need a very strong Kaizer Chiefs that can rival Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. The national team would improve, TS Galaxy will be there about and we’ll continue to have one of the best leagues on the continent.
