SuperSport United are keeping their eyes firmly on TS Galaxy defender Pogiso Sanoka, whose contract with the Rockets will expire at the end of the season and has no option.
Hunt is understood to be looking for reinforcements at the back amid concerns that Thulani Hlatshwayo is injury-prone, and Ime Okon is set to leave at the end of the season after being linked with Danish top side FC Midtjylland.
Okon, who has a Nigerian father and South African mother, attended trials with the Danish side last year as Midtjylland wanted to have a closer look at him.
Other teams, who are monitoring Sanoka’s situation are Sekhukhune United and Stellenbosch FC.
The interest doesn’t come as a major surprise as Sanoka has been one of the star players for Galaxy this season, starting all 16 league matches played by Galaxy so far without being taken off.
This has led to coach Sead Ramovic at one time praising him that he deserved to be called up to the national team.
Sanoka has also featured in all four matches as Galaxy lost the Carling Knockout trophy to Stellenbosch FC in Durban.
It is the same competition he lost to Mamelodi Sundowns in the 2019/20 season with Maritzburg United at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Last season, Sanoka started 34 matches, playing alongside Given Msimango, who left to join Kaizer Chiefs at the beginning of this campaign.
Sanoka joined Galaxy in the second half of the 2020/21 season from Maritzburg United, whom he had been with since the 2015/16 season.
At the Team of Choice, Sanoka made his name under coach Fadlu Davids in the right-back position, featuring in 34 matches in all competitions in the 2017/18 season, as they lost the Nedbank Cup final, the club’s maiden cup final, to Free State Stars in Cape Town.
