Bafana Bafana winger Percy Tau has responded to rumours that he is set to leave Al Ahly at the end of the season, saying the information is incorrect.
Tau’s future with the Egyptian giants has been a subject of speculation recently with reports linking him with his former club Mamelodi Sundowns and a return to Europe.
The 29-year-old is currently with Bafana at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, where the team is looking to make the semi-finals for the first time in 24 years.
He rubbished the exit rumours, saying he wants his contract with his club to be respected, adding that he is also just concentrating on helping Bafana do something great at the AFCON.
“That one I don’t know, it’s something that’s been written in the media because it’s incorrect.” said Tau.
“I’m not gonna get involved in it and I don’t know who started it. I’m not gonna go further in that one.
“They must just get the right news and correct it. I don’t know who started this because it’s incorrect, I still have a contract that I have with the team and still have to respect at the moment!
“The focus is on the AFCON and trying to do something special here.”
