Tau Wanted In Saudi Arabia – Report

Al Ahly and Bafana Bafana winger Percy Tau is wanted by at least two Saudi Arabian clubs, according to reports from the gulf region.

Tau, 30, still has a contract with the Egyptian giants until June 2025 but rumours around his future have not died down.

The reigning African Inter-club Player of the Year is currently sidelined with an injury he picked up during national team duty with Bafana, with Al Ahly having to play catch-up in the Egyptian Premier League, having six games in hand on leaders Pyramids, who sit 17 points ahead of them on the log.

But Tau’s fine exploits at Al Ahly, where he’s lifted nine trophies, including back-to-back CAF Champions League titles, haven’t gone unnoticed, as he’s been linked with several Saudi clubs.

Al-Shabab were said to be looking at him, while Koora report Al-Khoolod have submitted a “verbal offer” to the South African.

It is stated they look at Tau as potential signing after gaining promotion to the Saudi Pro League. Meanwhile, Saudi club Al Wehda is reportedly also weighing up a potential offer for the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Brighton & Hove Albion winger.

Tau’s contract with Al Ahly only expires in 2025, but the Egyptian giants could look to cash in on him instead of risking losing him for free, while the player could potentially be attracted by the lure of facing stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, N’Golo Kante and Sadio Mane in the Rosh League.

Overall, Tau has made 106 appearances for the Club of the Century, scoring 25 goals and setting up 13 more since Pitso Mosimane brought him to the club in 2021.
