Richards Bay head coach Vusi Vilakazi says one of the reasons the club signed Siyethemba Sithebe was for his experience in the league.
Sithebe was among the headline signings of the club announced this week along with the new sponsors Phakwe Group. The 31-year-old was out of contract at Kaizer Chiefs in June and did not take long to secure a new home in his home province, having spent the last two seasons in Gauteng.
Vilakazi, who recently acquired a CAF B coaching License helped the Natal Rich Boyz secure their topflight status through the PSL Promotion playoffs, says what he realised is that the club lacked experience in certain areas. This is where Sithebe comes in, adding that his job is now to get the former AmaZulu man to adapt to the club’s way of doing things as quick as possible.

“At Richards Bay, if you can have a look we’ve got a lot of young players who have got the potential and stuff, but we were lacking experience there and there,” Vilakazi said to media reporters.
“And we wanted to obviously stabilise with someone who is experienced and has played in the PSL for quite some time. And we know his shortfall and also his strong points so he will definitely have a serious impact in our set-up.
“So, we will try to fast track him in terms of making sure that he is in the level of others and also understand the identification of the club or the philosophy of the club as well. But because he is a smart and a clever boy, I think he will quickly adapt.”
