Former Orlando Pirates coach has discussed whether he would potentially look at bringing a player from the Buccaneers to his new side.
Riveiro is expected to be unveiled as new Al Ahly coach in the next 48 hours after traveling from Johannesburg to Cairo on Wednesday night.
With Al Ahly back in action on Saturday, the Spanish mentor doesn’t have much time to prepare his new side.
Some Pirates fans and neutral have raised questions whether Riveiro could look at his old squad and try to bring some of his key players to Egypt, but he downplayed those suggestions.
“It’s a difficult question… Pirates is full of talent, full of really good prospects,” he told Robert Marawa on Radio947.
“But that’s not my role and will never be. Right now in modern football, we as coaches have a say obviously in the players who are coming and going but it belongs more to the strategical side of the business.
“In this case for Orlando Pirates and whichever club wants to look at our talent here. The role that I’m playing in that kind of situation and operation, is minimum and whatever happens in future is not going to have a straight relation with my decision, my influence or my opinion.”
