Now It’s In Royal AM’s Hands
With two rounds still to play, Royal AM took control of the GladAfrica Championship, as they usurped Richards Bay at the top of the table.
Royal AM beat fellow challengers TS Sorting 2-1 on Saturday, and they stayed on top when JDR Stars beat Richards Bay 2-1 on Sunday. Those results, and Sekhukhune United’s 1-0 win over Cape United, saw a complete switch around on the table.
Royal AM lead by two points from Richards Bay, who in turn are one point ahead of Sekhukhune. One point further behind is TS Sporting and JDR, with Sporting ahead on goal difference. Wrapping up the top six is Free State Stars, who beat Uthongathi 1-0 to move within six points of the leaders. Cape United are seventh, a point behind Stars.
Pretoria Callies moved to eight after they beat Cape Town Spurs 1-0 in Cape Town. Spurs remain in danger, they are 14th, one point ahead of 15th-placed Steenberg United, and three points behind 13th-placed Cape Town All Stars. All Stars and Steenberg drew 0-0.
11th placed AmaTuks beat 10th placed Jomo Cosmos 1-0, while Polokwane City, who are 12th, beat already relegated Bizana Pondo Chiefs 2-0.
