Shilene Booysen has been appointed the Head of Women’s Football at Stellenbosch FC, with the former Banyana Banyana coach and analyst confirming the news this week.
Though the club is yet to make an official announcement iDiski Times understands that Booysen has been appointed on a long-term deal.

She will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the club’s women’s programme, which includes three ladies teams, namely the new Hollywoodbets Super League side, as well as the SASOL League and Regional Women’s League teams.
Booysen brings a wealth of knowledge to the Winelands-based club, having coached the South Sudan national women’s team, leading Wadi Degla in Egypt, and a stint in Afghanistan. She was also part of Banyana’s World Cup technical team in 2023 and holds a CAF A License.
Booysen, who has also done technical study work for FIFA, said on her LinkedIn that the opportunity represents more than a title for her.
“This opportunity represents so much more than a title, it gives me a chance to contribute meaningfully to the growth and evolution of the women’s game in South Africa,” she wrote.
“I am truly grateful for the trust placed in me and look forward to working alongside the club to elevate standards, strengthen professionalism, and drive a culture of excellence.
“One of the most important aspects of this journey is shifting mindsets, something I see as a wonderful challenge but also something I have done many times before.
“Also ensuring that women’s football is respected, valued, and supported at every level. We have a responsibility to create an environment where players, coaches, and staff can thrive, and where the game continues to grow in every aspect.”
