Former Banyana Assistant Lands Gig ln Egypt

Egyptian Women’s Premier League side Wadi Degla announced former Banyana Banyana assistant coach and analyst Shilene Booysen as their Technical Director.

Booysen has reportedly signed a one-year contract with an option to extend with the 13-time Egyptian Women’s League champions to become the first woman to coach in the country and the second South African at a senior team following in the steps of former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane.

The announcement was made on Tuesday evening on their official X page. Booysen’s track in coaching also includes an assistant role at Houston Dash, a head coach role for the South Sudan senior women’s team.

The coach recently returned to Banyana as technical advisor to coach Desiree Ellis for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where South Africa reached the second round for the first time in their two appearances at a World Cup.
