Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies defender Bambanani Mbane says their smooth sailing to CAF Women’s Champions League wasn’t as easy as it looked as they now turn attention to the semi-finals.
Sundowns scored 11 goals and conceded only one with wins over Bayelsa Queens, Wadi Degla and TP Mazembe to set up a last-four tie against Simba Queens this week.
Bayelsa Queens, who they beat in the tournament opener will face off against hosts ASFAR – but Mbane has played down the notion that it’s been an easy ride thus far.

“Look it wasn’t an easy game to play but I’m happy with the three points and we knew we wanted to win so bad,” Mbane said after the game.
“Thanks to the coach [Jerry] for giving us the opportunity and supporting us, it was never an easy game but we played our hearts out.”
“Yesterday the coach said we must win the game, no pressure. And we know it wasn’t going to be easy but we wanted to win all our games so I’m happy with the performance.
“Look it’s not going to be easy playing the semi-finals against Simba, but we do have a plan for them – one game at a time…”
Sundowns will face off against the East Africans at the Stade Moulay Hassan in Rabat (18h00) – two hours before the hosts and the Nigerians face off at Stade Moulay Hassan the for a place in the final.
