Ahead of their opening WAFCON game against Nigeria on Monday, Amogelang Motau says that while there has been a lot of talking about the Nigerian game, their focus is on all their group opponents.

Desiree Ellis’s team are in Group C with debutants Burundi and Botswana, but will first have to face the defending champions.

Motau spoke in-depth to Lethabo Kganyago in the latest edition of iDiski Times about her return to the Banyana squadand added that as much as they are concerned about Nigeria, the Super Falcons are equally concerned about Banyana.

“There’s a lot of talk around Nigeria but I personally would like to avoid that because I think that Nigeria is worried about us as well because history doesn’t lie. We’ve beaten them before,” Motau told iDiski Times.

“So I think we’re also a headache for them, besides a lot of talk around Nigeria being the favourites and blah, blah, blah.

“But I think also playing the debutants is actually going to be very difficult because they have nothing to lose.

“I think they’ll put everything on the line and get their feet into the tournament. It is for us to look at them and play them with the same respect that we will play any other team in the tournament.

“It will help us to keep our feet on the ground and obviously go beyond the group stages.”
