Former Cape Town City coach Diogo Peral has won his first game as Asante Kotoko coach after replacing Eric Tinkler.
Peral joined Kotoko as the technical director after Tinkler was appointed as the head coach. Tinkler lasted for only two months at Kotoko before resigning and joining Betway Premiership side Durban City, who are yet to unveil him.
The 51-year-old was then confirmed to be taking over at Kotoko after the exit of Tinkler as the club wanted continuity.
Peral got his first test this past weekend against Karela United and the two-time CAF Champions were victorious by 1-0 and moved up to fifth place on the log standings with eight points after five games.
The mandate remains the same for Peral which is to take the club back to the top where it belongs, chasing for league title honours, which they last won in the 2021/22 season.
Their next encounter is against Swedru All Blacks away from home which will be Peral’s second match in charge.
