IDiski TV analyst Junior Khanye has questioned the substitutions of Mduduzi Shabalala and Wandile Duba in Kaizer Chiefs’ 1-1 Betway Premiership draw with Stellenbosch FC.

Shabalala, 22, started the game at FNB Stadium on Tuesday and scored the equaliser as his side recorded a fifth stalemate in their last six league games this season. Amakhosi remained in fourth position on the log with 14 points in eight outings.

Khanye believes Shabalala was one of three Chiefs players who showed urgency to score in the game, adding that his substitution didn’t make sense.

“There were only three players from Kaizer Chiefs that were willing to play,” said Khanye on IDiski TV.

“For me the coach made a big mistake by subbing Mdu. Just looking at the first half he provided big pass to [Wandile] Duba.

“That boy, of all the strikers at Kaizer Chiefs I prefer him. He knows how to run off the ball that’s something you hardly see from a Kaizer Chiefs striker.

“When he’s there, he’s arrogant and the defence cannot rest. Even Mfundo Vilakazi did very well on the left but the coach played him on the line and I don’t understand why play him wide when he lacks speed.

“And again on Mdu, you’d think the coaches are reading the game. Between him and his assistants who said let’s take Mdu off after scoring. Taking him out for [Ethan] Chislett?

“Chislett looked rusty he hasn’t been playing for long. In today’s game Mdu played so well. Even Duba I don’t understand why he went off.”
