Patrick Maswanganyi and his new club Al Khaldiya lost 3-1 to Al Kuwait in the Asian Champions League on Wednesday evening.

Maswanganyi, 28, started his second AFC match, but his side came out second-best against Kuwait Premier League champions Al-Kuwait.

Faisal Zaid opened the scoring for the home side in injury-time of the first half, while Yousef Nasser made it 2-0 after 60 minutes.

However, Maswanganyi had already been subbed out after 55 minutes in a frustrating evening for the former Orlando Pirates man.

Khaldiya did manage to half the deficit in the 80th minute via Gleison and were pushing for a late equaliser.

But it was the home side who added to the scoreline in the 96th minute, with Nasser completing his brace.

After two games in the Asian Champions League, Khaldiya sit bottom of their group, with one point so far. They will again face Kuwait in their next AFC fixture in December, but this time at home.
