New Kaizer Chiefs signing Elias Mokwana has admitted he wanted to join Amakhosi even earlier in his career, and called his move to Naturena “a dream come true”.

Mokwana, 27, was unveiled as new Amakhosi player this week after mutually parting ways with Esperance Sportive de Tunis earlier in the year.

He joined the club as free agent, admitting he has been a life-long Amakhosi supporter before revealing he almost joined the club before his move abroad.

“I grew up supporting Amakhosi,” he told the club’s media team.

“I first heard that they were interested in me when I was at Sekhukhune. Instead of going to Esperance, I was supposed to come here, but unfortunately some obstacles prevented it from happening at the time.

‘A Dream come true’

The Bafana winger who lost his space in the national team has shared his lofty ambitions with Chiefs.

“For me, it is a dream come true. I have always wanted to prove myself in this team and to play a part in bringing some trophies to the Club,” he added.

“I was sitting with my sisters, and the first thing I did was phone my mother to share the good news with her.

“I can’t explain the feeling exactly. I’m excited. It’s a very nice feeling.

“This is a good place with good people, and I am very happy to be here.”
