Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz has praised the attitude of match winner Asanele Velebayi, who scored the side’s winner in their 2-1 victory over Siwelele FC.
Velebayi, 23, scored his first goal for the club after coming off the bench in the 75th minute.
The strike from a tight angle saw Amakhosi complete a comeback win over Siwelele, after Wandile Duba had scored the equaliser from the penalty spot in first-half injury-time.
After the match, Da Cruz praised Velebayi who has not had many chances to feature this campaign so far.
“I’m very happy for Velebayi, because he works a lot at training,” Da Cruz told SuperSport TV.
“He didn’t get a lot of minutes for the moment but most important is when you come in to help the team and today he offered us the qualification.”
Da Cruz also confirmed that Duba’s substitution was to manage the player after he had played a lot of minutes during the last few games.
“He started some cramps, so we needed a fresh player in our frontline. We needed to manage him, he played the last two games almost completely, and we need to manage our squad,” he added.
