Tso Makes Bold Pirates CAFCC Claim

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Benedict ‘Tso’ Vilakazi says his former club will not make it past the CAF Confederations Cup group stages.

Tso believes that many injuries at the club could be the reason for them not to reach far in the continental football.

The Soweto giants have recently confirmed that key players such as Thembinkosi Lorch, Richard Ofori and Vicent Pule are still side-lined.

The all-time top scorer of the Buccaneers also added that Pirates also have a leadership crisis and lack of discipline from players, which he thinks could be the another reason for poor performance.

“Pirates have just lost Vincent Pule to a long-term injury which he suffered on national duty. Thembinkosi Lorch is already ruled out for the rest of the year due to injury,” Vilakazi wrote in his iDiski Times column.

“As if that is not enough, Pirates are currently facing a discipline problem within the squad. Gabadinho Mhango was recently in the news after he allegedly left a hefty bill at a nightclub.

“We are also hearing allegations of Ben Motshwari and a domestic violence situation. I’m mentioning these issues to say that Orlando Pirates are not ready to properly challenge in the Confederations Cup.

“They are also facing a leadership crisis. They have no coach at the moment. Both assistant coaches are at the helm, and you don’t know who exactly calls the shots between them.

“I think Orlando Pirates will do well to reach the group stages and their journey will end there.”

The Sea Robbers will host Diables Noirs at Orlando Stadium today at 17:30 for the CAF Confederations Cup match.
